The Alien franchise began in 1979 with the film Alien and has since expanded to include sequels, prequels, and crossover films like Aliens (1986), Alien 3 (1992), Alien Resurrection (1997), Prometheus (2012),Alien: Covenant (2017), Alien: Romulus (2024), Alien vs. Predator (2004), and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007). The series is centered on the encounters between humans and the extraterrestrial Xenomorphs, with the original four films following Sigourney Weaver's character, Ellen Ripley, and the prequel films exploring the origins of the creature. The franchise has also expanded into other media, including novels, comics, video games, and a 2025 television series, Alien: Earth.
